Final Design Direction

The device has the following characteristics

- flexible band that can be wrapped around wrist or folded flat

- large oled display (removable and has small metal leads to interact with the nfc card when in the device, and a small battery and small memory card to retain the identication image when removed from the device)

- buttons for interacting with the information on the display, or touch screen. quick keys may be helpful for paying quickly

- slot for the removable nfc (near field communication card)

- small black blank screen for palm vein authentication (this prevents the information on the nfc card from being accessed by someone other than the owner)

Some info on how the device works

- for all interactions which can be completed within 1-4 inches, the nfc card itself would transmit the data, for others, such as keyless entry for cars, or "smart posters," rfid and a remote keyless system would be used

- when going through customs or when pulled over by police, you would flash the device near the officer's reader and it would receive and display the appropriate information including your picture. when at a small restaurant or bar that does not have the appropriate reader, the oled display can be removed to show identification much as one does now.

- some sort of buttons or touch screen are necessary to select from multiple payment sources, quick keys may be helpful to pay more quickly

- to use the device you would authenticate it by waving your hand over the verifying screen, this would prevent the information on the device from being accessed. in order to prevent a thief from stealing the device after having the owner authenticate, the user would also have to authenticate at the point of interaction

- the nfc card can be removed and put into other objects such as cards, chains, necklaces
